Transfer Stations Refuse Centres. Rubbish Dumps, Landfill, Drop Off Centres.Where to dump rubbish not covered by kerbside collection. Opening hours
There are four Transfer Stations in Central Hawke's Bay, located in Waipukurau, Waipawa, Pōrangahau and Takapau. For operational hours and details of what is accepted at each Transfer Station refer to the table below or for more information on fees and volumes go here.
There are also Drop Off Centres (DOCs) at Waipukurau, Waipawa, Pōrangahau. (DOCs still operating at Ōtāne, Tikokino, Ongaonga and Takapau until the below mobile trailer service commences)
Note: August 2021.
With the introduction of kerbside recycling, we are expecting demand for the existing rural drop-off centres to change. As part of our service offering,
we will no longer be providing the existing drop-off centres in Otāne, Tikokino, Ongaonga and Takapau. This service will instead be replaced by mobile trailers that will frequent rural areas of the District on a regular basis. These changes will come into effect once the new rural kerbside Rubbish and Recycling service is running smoothly. This includes being able to service areas of the district, that rural drop-off recycling centres have never been able to reach before., Otane, Tikokino, Ongaonga and Takapau.
Refer to the table below for specific hours of operation.
