Community DevelopmentTe hapori

Local Government has an important role in improving and guiding social wellbeing of our communities.

This was made clear in the reinstatement of the four wellbeing's back into local government with the (Community Well-being) Amendment Act 2019. Our Social Development Strategic Framework presents Central Hawke’s Bay District Council’s approach to providing social development services. We want to foster the existing community social assets, advocate, facilitate and coordinate social wellbeing activities, to ensure we sustain, enable and enhance the community’s social wellbeing. This cannot be done without the leadership and ownership of various community groups (networks) who can determine the priorities and actions required, as well as implement those actions.

Our network of networks provide important social services and connections across the rohe and region.  Each network is responsible for creating its own action plan and monitoring the implementation of those plans.
