 Throughout the year, Central Hawke’s Bay District Council will be organising Waste Free CHB Events across our district, providing local residents with opportunities to reduce, reuse and recycle their waste and minimising what is sent to landfill. Keep an eye out on this page for upcoming Waste Free CHB events and see how you can get involved.

Second Hand Sunday - 27 February 2022

Second Hand Sunday is back for 2022!

Every year Central Hawke's Bay residents can take part in our Waste Free CHB event - Second Hand Sunday. 

If you have had a clear out over Summer and have second hand items to give away, register your address to take part in Second Hand Sunday. 

Have stuff to giveaway? 

- Fill in the form below to register, or you can pick up a registration form from the Waipawa Council Office, Waipawa Library or the Knowledge and Learning Hub in Waipukurau. 

- Your address will be published here and in the CHB Mail on 24 February

- You will receive a participants pack to help you run your Second Hand Sunday event

- On the morning of Sunday 27 February, place your items to giveaway out the front of your property and place your participating posters (in your pack) on your letterbox or fence.

- Do not put food or dangerous goods out for collection, including, but not limited to faulty electrical items, chemicals or firearms. 

- At the end of the day hopefully your trash was someone's treasure! If you still have remaining items please bring them back onto your property for storage, it will be your responsibility to dispose of these remaining items. 

 

Wanting to hunt for treasure on Sunday 27 February?

- Check this page or the CHB Mail on Thursday 24 February for listed participating addresses

- Head out on Sunday morning with your trailer or empty car boot and see what you can find

- Please be respectful of the time, do not approach registered addresses prior to 9am or after 1pm

- Please be respectful of items, peoples property, and drive with care
