Update to Central Hawke's Bay Community: Many Central Hawke’s Bay District Council Services to Resume in COVID-19 Level 2

Following the Government’s decision to drop down to COVID-19 Level 2 at 11.59pm tonight (Tuesday September 7), Central Hawke’s Bay District Council will resume many of its facilities and services.

Council’s Waipawa office will reopen to the public for counter service with stringent processes in place to allow for required physical distancing and hygiene practices.

Customers can still contact Council’s Customer Experience Representatives by phone 06 857 8060 or email at: customerservice@chbdc.govt.nz for 24 hour service, 7 days a week. Many enquiries and applications can also be completed online by visiting www.chbdc.govt.nz and clicking the ‘Do It Online’ tab.

All customers who do choose to visit Council’s office in person will be required to sign in manually or via the COVID tracer app, to allow for contact tracing if necessary.

The following facilities and services will be open through Alert Level 2; please note there may be some limitations. For more details, please see our Frequently Asked Questions for Alert Level 2:

  • Waipawa Council Office
  • Waipawa Library
  • Some Community Halls (please contact your local hall to check) 
  • Building and Resource consents and Site Inspections
  • Transfer Stations
  • Recycling Drop-Off Centres
  • Rubbish Collection
  • Recycling Collection
  • Three Waters
  • Animal Control call-outs
  • Freedom Camping Grounds (open to those who are self-contained)
  • Parks/Playgrounds (with physical distancing guidelines and sign into contact tracing app required)
  • Public Toilets
