Guthrie Smith Arboretum Visit

On Sundays from October to May the Guthrie Smith Arboretum is open to the public from 9.00am to 5.00pm.

The Arboretum has spectacular walks amongst the trees with breathtaking views over Lakes Tutira, Waikopiro and Orakei. Pack up a picnic or bring a sausage to sizzle on the electric barbeque provided in one of the shelters. There is a Flying Fox for children to play while you picnic.

Spread over 90 hectares in rolling Hawkes Bay hill country, you will find over 2000 trees from many countries which have been planted in groupings according to geographical regions ( Australia, China, Japan, Himalayas, Europe, Mexico, North America, Mediterranean and New Zealand).

Entry is free but we welcome donations. There is an Iron Maiden available at the shelter by the parking area.
