Boil Water Notice Waipukurau only

Notice

A boil water notice was issued at 10pm on Friday 23 June 2023 for the Waipukurau public water supply, with clean water available at a tanker station in town for those who need it.

Unfortunately, we expect it to remain in place until at least Friday 30 June.

Our Council has stationed a water tanker at Russell Park (next to the Scout Hall) and one at Racecourse Road (opposite GM Panelbeaters) in Waipukurau.

The tankers will be replaced when empty, however there may be a short delay between the tanker being emptied and replaced.

• Please bring your own containers to fill from the tanker.
• Collection of water from the tanker is free.
• We ask you to ensure that any container you are using to fill from the tanker is clean.

If you are at all uncertain about the cleanliness of the container you are using to fill from the tanker, please boil water at a rolling boil for at least two minutes prior to consumption. A rolling boil is a constant boil. Bringing water to boil in a kettle that shuts off automatically upon boiling will not constitute a rolling boil for two minutes.

The recent heavy rain has meant increased sediment in the water reaching the water treatment plant which is not helping the plant’s clarifier to operate normally. The turbidity level in the treated water supply exceeds the NZ Drinking Water Standards. In accordance with the Health Act, 1956,the Central Hawke’s Bay Council has issued this Boil Water Notice. This means, residents are being asked to boil their drinking water for the time being until we remedy the issues. For more information on this and what this means for your visit boil water notice.
