Collaboration = Success

PM Poster

The Jobs in Central Hawke’s Bay team has maintained a strong working relationship with many Central Hawke’s Bay local community organisations, in particular the local MSD team which has contributed to the reduction of job seeker numbers by over 100 since this time last year.
The revival of a Skills, Training and Employment Network has allowed for further partnership through effective collaboration, providing wrap around support to people within the community. This network consists of organisations within Central Hawke’s Bay in the skills, training or employment fields.
An emphasis on local jobs for local people flows into our own staffing, with local coordinators originally established in Porangahau (Keri Ropiha), Takapau (Jo Heperi), Waipukurau (Jono Craig), Waipawa (Nicola Fryer) alongside our business connector (Shelly Birdsall). These positions have been crucial to our success, allowing for conversations to occur throughout the district, with locals telling us where the gaps are and how we can support them going forward.
Some initiatives the team have worked in partnership to develop include:
Driver Licensing Support
Personal and Professional Coaching
Pre-employment Courses
CHB College Employment Expo
Revival of Business After 5
Education and Farming Initiative
Apprentice Support Workshops
We are excited to have been successful in obtaining another round of external funding to continue this programme until June 2022.
“Congratulations to our MTFJ team for an astounding year of work! They have helped so many people, created many opportunities and are a great example of innovative, flexible and community-focussed local government at its best. I am so proud of them,” Mayor Alex Walker.
