Parks Week is about hundreds of organisations throughout New Zealand and Australia holding events to celebrate the vital role parks play in creating liveable cities and thriving communities.

This year, based on the Five Ways to Wellbeing, Parks Week will focus on how spending time in our parks and open spaces positively influences our wellbeing.  The Five Ways to Wellbeing are: Give, take notice, connect, be active and learning.

“We’re proud of our beautiful parks in Central Hawke’s Bay but it is very easy to take them for granted,” says Alex Walker, Mayor of Central Hawke’s Bay. “Instead of just driving past your local parks this weekend, try stopping and spending some time. Maybe even explore some of the parks in our district that you've never been to!”

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council will be highlighting one park everyday on their social media channels throughout Parks Week.

Parks Week is run in partnership by Recreation Aotearoa and Parks & Leisure Australia.
