Central Hawkes Bay, Tararua and Wairoa District Councils are seeking expressions of interest from suitably experienced candidates to be the Councils’ representative on the Howard Estate Advisory Board.

The purpose of the board is to advise Public Trust on matters concerning the management and administration of Smedley Station as conferred under the Howard Estate Act.

The Councils would be seeking to appoint the candidate for a 3 year term.

A trustee should, as a minimum, have the following skills:

• An understanding of governance issues
• An empathy for young people with the desire to see them succeed in training in the agricultural sector
• Either business experience or other experience that is relevant to the activities of the board
• A good understanding of large scale profitable farming enterprises
• Sound judgement
• A high standard of personal integrity
• The ability to work as a member of a team

Trustees would need to be available to attend five scheduled board meetings and four events each year, as well as other ad hoc meetings and events as required.

Candidates wishing to put forward an expression of interest should write a letter outlining why they wish to be an Advisory Board Member representing the above councils, and an explanation of the skills above. Candidates may wish to enclose their CV.

Expressions of Interest close on Friday 16 November and should be addressed to the Governance and Support Officer, PO Box 127, Waipawa 4240.
