Finance Manager

We are seeking a Finance Manager as a new role, to join our Corporate Support & Services Group.Services Group. Capable of getting in and ‘doing the doing’, you will be responsible for operational leadership and providing technical accounting support to the Finance team. In addition to supporting the team, the role will be responsible for leading and delivering the monthly management reporting, financial reporting, statutory reporting, treasury management and operational management of the Finance team.

 

We are looking for exceptional senior financial candidates, who have a “hands-on” and “can-do” attitude. This could be candidates experienced in overseeing finance functions, or be ready for that ‘next step.’ This could also be someone who has come from an experienced Manager’s role, ready for change and looking to share their successful experiences.

 

You will have at least 3-5 years post qualification experience and will be used to balancing multiple priorities at once. You will be able to demonstrate your experience leading, coaching and empowering staff to succeed. 

 

This full-time role would support the Group Manager to achieve Council’s long-term objectives and business strategy, by ensuring that Council’s financial management and reporting systems can support the needs of internal users and Council’s legislative and external reporting requirements. This includes leading the continued review and improvement of process and procedures both within the Finance team and the wider organisation to ensure continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Chartered Accounting qualification or bring equivalent technical experience and skills
  • A strong knowledge of management accounting principles and reporting
  • Experience with financial modelling preferable SQL based
  • A passion for continuous improvement
  • Ability to interact with a diverse range of people
  • Experience in Local Government although this is not essential
  • Excellent communication skills
