Make a stand Central Hawke’s Bay

HBRC Stand WebGraphics Council 1

Candidate nominations for the local body and District Health Board elections open next Friday, 19 July. The nomination period closes at 12 noon, Friday 16 August, and the electoral officers for Hawke’s Bay’s five Councils and Hawke’s Bay District Health Board urge all prospective candidates not to wait until the last minute to read through the relevant information and complete the forms.

The Central Hawke’s Bay pre-election report, candidate handbooks, nomination forms, Frequently Asked Questions, and informative videos supplied by Local Government New Zealand are now available on the council website, and that of the District Health Board.  Anyone planning to put their name forward for a seat on a Council or the District Health Board also needs to be aware that they must keep all receipts for expenses to date from today (12 July), as all expenditure and donations to their campaign must be declared.

Monique Davidson, Chief Executive for Central Hawke’s Bay District Council says, “If you love Central Hawke’s Bay, want to make a difference in your community, and have a vision for how to make it happen, then consider standing for council. We need people from all walks of life to represent our communities. You don’t need formal experience or qualifications to stand, you just need to be passionate and committed to representing the best interests of your community. Come along to our candidate information evening on 25 July to find out more.”
