Have your say on the future of our waste here.
Most of the things we do, buy, and consume generate some form of waste. This not only costs money when we have to throw things away but, if we don’t manage the waste properly, it can also cause problems with the environment and with people’s health.
You have told us that together we need to reduce what is going into our landfill, increase re-use and recycling, raise awareness and education and ensure that our services are practical and affordable.
While Council has a leading role in many aspects of how we manage and minimise waste in the district, we need the support and skills of our communities to deliver on our joint plan and vision of a Waste Free CHB.
Last July, during the development of our current Waste Minimisation Plan, we asked you how you would like to see Central Hawke’s Bay’s waste be managed and minimised across the district.
And as a community, we have identified that we want to:
Behind the scenes, Council have been working to set targets and goals, to directly tackle these issues.

Racecourse Road Residents:
There are a few reasons for this change:
• We’re responding to an increase in volume of recycling in Waipukurau – thank you for doing your bit to help us become a Waste Free CHB!
• We’re making room for greater efficiencies of service, by collecting your rubbish and recycling on the same day, and on time.
• We’re looking after the health and safety of contractors as we accommodate the increase in kerbside recycling.
For clarification or if you have further questions, please contact Council.
Please note that all rubbish and recycling must be put to the kerb by 7.30am on your day of collection. Please ensure that you are only including recyclable materials in your crates for collection.
