The Grant Haua Explosion….See the former Swamp Thing rocker and Solo Acoustic Maestro Grant Haua in his final form, reunited with his Swamp Brother Michael Barker on Drums and Hurricane Elis' Brian Franks on bass, a night of acoustic and electric fretwork fireworks that's not to be missed.
A seasoned artist who touches all kinds of points in the blues and folk from Taj Mahal and JJ Cale to dialled down Stevie Ray and even an adventurous touch of acoustic James Blood Ulmer. Seems like this is Grant Haua's time' Graham Reid (Elsewhere Magazine).
"AWA BLUES" In the Top 25 Albums of the year 2021, ROLLING STONE FRANCE
It may be simple, and at times does feel closer to pre-war blues than music from 2021, but it is also incredibly honest. What you hear is what you get with Grant, and in this throwaway and image-centred false world that is something very special indeed. Kev Rowland music.net.nz.
---------------------
Dusty Rhodes and the Bluesmobile began in 1987 born from the seeds of 2 legendary Hawkes Bay bands, Bluebeard and The Hoochie Coochie Blues band. Members share a passion for blues and blues/rock music and while the band has had some personnel changes over the years the core of: Dusty Rhodes and Tim Walton has been constant for most of this time.
The band is centred on the guitar genius of Rhodes, who is also singer/songwriter. It has produced 2 recordings to date, "Live at the Cabana 89" and "You asked for it" in the mid nineties, while also appearing on a recording for Creative Napier in 2008. At it's peak, the band toured extensively, gaining a following for its dynamic live performances and appearing at top venues and concerts throughout the country.
In 2017 drummer Dennis Maunder joined the band, adding his driving rockabilly and Texas blues feel to the music. The band has continued as a 3 piece with original members, Rhodes and Tim Walton. In 2019, they recorded their 3rd album at the Paisley Stage which is due to be released at the end of 2020. The band presents a wide variety of material which includes original songs and classics from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Doors. Committed to the blues, this band has long lived up to its reputation as one of the best true blues bands in the country.
