S.O.S - An Exhibition By 3 Women

S.O.S - An Exhibition By 3 Women

SOS is an exhibition that presents three local women with a passion for making art, each in their own unique way.

Gail Davidson:
Gail is a Napier artist and has exhibited in a number of exhibitions in Hawke’s Bay over the years. She also has had her work accepted for invitation only exhibitions in Hawke’s Bay and further afield.

This exposure has lead to a good number of her paintings now hanging in homes and businesses throughout NZ and overseas.

With tongue in cheek Gail likes to depict the humorous side of life with the occasional irreverent touch. She enjoys the use of bright bold colours, and usually finishes with black outlines. She loves to see the viewer smile or chuckle as they observe the painting before them.

Karen Panton:
Karen has been painting, and selling paintings for a number of years now. She has featured in the NZ Artist – including being selected for an issue’s cover picture. She has also won prizes in several competitions. Karen’s twin, Gail, and Karen herself have always had very vivid imaginations.

Karen’s paintings are based around the surreal. Birds and trees are her passion, but she cannot stop tinkering, and often personifies her subjects. If she is painting a cold scene, the birds will often have boots and a hat. Her ideas are mostly from her imagination although she often uses a reference for the more ‘serious’ parts of her paintings.

Christine Parnell:
Christine has been drawing and painting for most of her life, but more seriously in the last 15 years. She works mainly in acrylics and watercolour, in a range of subjects. More recently she has been experimenting with mixed media and finds this a very satisfying method of expression.

She is a founding member of Viva Gallery, and has exhibited at several exhibitions in Hawke’s Bay and further afield. Her work can also be viewed at Bent Gum Gallery at Christine’s home in Malbec Way, Taradale. It is open most weekends.

Join the artists to celebrate the opening of SOS on Friday 19 January, 5-7pm. All welcome!
