WHAT is Heart Kids Hawkes Bay Charity Golf Day?
This is Heart Kids Hawkes Bay's main fundraising event which raises much needed funds to support our local heart families through their extremely tough journey.

At this event, we also take the opportunity to pause for a moment and remember our Heart Angels by releasing beautiful doves from Rosie's Doves.

All funds raised from the day stay locally in Hawkes Bay and it is a really fun way to raise funds for our very special children.

How can you help us support our little heart warriors?
- Register a team of four
- Sponsor a hole
- Donate a raffle item or spot prize
- Donate an auction item

Why support Heart Kids Hawkes Bay?
Heart Kids is a not-for-profit organisation that provides functional and emotional support to kids, teens, adults and families affected by childhood heart conditions. In fact, we are the only organisation in New Zealand dedicated to providing life long care for all those affected by the world’s most common birth defect and heart disease acquired during childhood.

Every week, 12 babies (one child per 100) are born with a heart condition in NZ. In addition a number of children acquire a heart condition as a result of Rheumatic Fever, Cardiomyopathy or Kawasaki Disease. The severity of conditions can range from a simple hole in the heart to a highly complex combination of conditions and most require surgical intervention.

Auckland’s Paediatric Cardiac Unit is the only Unit in NZ to perform cardiac surgery on babies and children. 1,000 babies and children a year are treated at Auckland’s Starship Hospital, and 450 of them will have open-heart surgery.

The majority of families (nearly 70%) travelling to Starship live outside the Auckland Region. Many of these families are away from home for long periods of time, leaving their jobs, family members and support networks. This adds to the financial and emotional stress of coping with an unwell child. Our Family Support Workers are there to help them through such difficult times.

Heart Kids Hawkes Bay is one of the 16 affiliated branches of Heart Kids NZ. We are a group of parents and caregivers of children with heart conditions. We know from first hand experience how important at home support is and we are dedicated to helping others with similar needs.

We provide much-needed practical and emotional support to approximately 200 local families in Hawke's Bay and Gisborne. Our dedicated Family Support Worker makes contact, assess needs and provide care and support in the form of:
- Information
- Support Services Grant
- Newsletters
- Coffee groups (Murmurs)
- Hospital care packs
- Teens get together
- CPR courses and more
- Special events
- Medical Equipment
- Counseling Services (grief & trauma) or just a shoulder to cry on.
