Recently, the Government’s Three Waters Reform Programme across Council drinking water, wastewater and stormwater services has gained momentum. It is important that we all understand clearly what this means for us in Central Hawke’s Bay.

The recent Government-led reform work that span across all of New Zealand will have an impact on Hawke’s Bay. The Hawke’s Bay Three Waters Review website contains summary information on the outcome of the national reform work and key highlights of what it means for Hawke’s Bay below.
Hawke’s Bay fits with Entity C, 1 of the 4 proposed entities under the governments reform proposal. This entity spans the east coast and lower North Island as well as the top of the South and the Chatham Islands. The entity would have nearly 1 million connected water users and covers an area currently serviced by 21 Councils.
