Update - 10 September 2019

Works went according to plan and the lining of these sections of helicoil pipeline were completed on Saturday 30th August 2019.

Higgins are finalising road reinstatement and are remedying manhole lid levels.

All work is expected to be complete by the end of September 2019.

Update - 23 August 2019

Works will be taking place from Mon 26th August 2019 through to late Sep 2019, council through Pipeworks/ Higgins is renewing stormwater pipelines by lining them with a new material.

This is taking place opposite #3 Francis Drake Street to a manhole in the bowling club, and outside #32 Tavistock through private property to #11 Jellicoe street, Waipukurau.

The work involves inserting a flexible resin liner inside the existing pipe, then curing it with UV as the most innovative and environmental friendly methodology in Cured in Place Pipe (CIPP) lining to form a layer inside the existing pipe. Works also include CCTV pipeline inspections, pipe repairs, cleaning and bypass pumping.

There will be noise related with machinery, and smell is expected due to the liner being impregnated with polyester resin, which may cause some smell during installation - The smell should not to be noticeable beyond 10 meters, however we would advise you to close windows.

Higgins have completed installation of all the new pipe work and manholes in the Francis Drake Section of this Contract. Work is currently underway to rehabilitate the road surface.

A temporary repair to the footpath will take place as the concrete lid of the manhole will require to be removed during the lining stage. The lining material is currently been shipped to New Zealand from overseas and lining should be taking place towards the end of the month and into August weather dependant.

Update - 27 June 2019

Higgins continue to make progress installing the new concrete pipe along Francis Drake Street out into St Joseph Street. Steady progress has been made in the past week with new pipe up to the intersection ready for the pass across St Joseph Street.

Once this is completed Higgins will then commence on rehabilitation of the road. The footpath in Francis Drake Street will be not be reinstated until the lining work is completed as the manhole lid will require to be lifted off to facilitate the lining installation through into the bowling club. The footpath area will be left in a tidy and usable state until the lining work is completed.

Update - 13 June 2019

Contractors continue to work away in Francis Drake Street with the installation of new manholes and concrete pipes.

Higgins whom are carrying out the civil work for the Main Contractor (Pipeworks) are making steady progress with some rather large manholes, and pipe inserts through these manholes. This pipe inserts are to convey wastewater that previously clashed with the Storm water network. These inserts replace pipes already in place but Council felt it best to renew them as part on the upgrade works.

The lining material is currently manufactured overseas and we are waiting on its arrival in August for installation.

Week starting 17 June, sees the replacement of a section of Stormwater pipe that runs along Francis Drake Street up into St Joseph Street.

Update - 29 May 2019

Higgins who are carrying out the structures portion of the contract for Pipe Works continue to make good progress in Francis Drake St - The new section of water main has been completed which now allows Higgins to install the new large 2300mm manhole into the Stormwater Network.

This manhole also requires a new section of sewer main pipe to be inserted. To carry out this manhole installation an existing concrete manhole has had to be removed piece by piece to ensure the adjacent sewer manhole was not damaged.

Over the coming week Higgins will begin installing new concrete Stormwater pipes between the new manhole structures.
