On Thursday 23rd August, Central Hawkes Bay District Council (CHBDC) marked the start of the capital programme of works branded the #thebigwaterstory.
Following project THRIVE, the creation of the #thebigwaterstory brand and adoption of the Long Term Plan in 2018, attention and focus has shifted from discussion and consultation to planning and delivery.
#thebigwaterstory is one of the key initiatives in the 2018-2028 Long Term Plan produced and consulted on with the community by Central Hawke’s Bay District Council in 2018.
We recognise how important water is to our community, and plan to invest significantly in our infrastructure over the next 30 years.
We have approx. $32m of capital works to complete over the next 10 years across the 3 waters space in the Central Hawkes Bay region, this will ensure we have resilient, durable infrastructure for future generations, whilst promoting opportunities for district growth and to attract new industries and employment.
With at least 25 high level projects and over 50 smaller projects to complete across the region in the initial 10-year programme.
Moving forward, the community can expect to see regular communication through our website, Facebook page and in the local CHB Mail as these projects start to develop and gain some traction.
The website will be updated regularly with detailed content on the programme and individual projects, whilst our Facebook updates will provide updates and snapshots into the progress of our projects and programmes of work.
