Broader Outcomes

Through partnership with our Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs, we introduced broader outcome thinking to our projects. Our goal was to go beyond physical infrastructure and to support community wellbeing now and into the future.

As part of the procurement process, tenderers were required to provide a Sustainable Procurement Plan, including plans to boost local employment and upskill a new generation in Central Hawke's Bay.

As a team, we are proud of the work that has seen many jobs created across these important upgrades.

Jobs in Central Hawke's Bay is a community led recovery programme which connects the business community with local people who are seeking meaningful employment. The programme provides support with recruitment, training and in work support for both employers and employees. Although this programme has a Youth focus, it is available to assist anyone looking for employment within the community.

The programme is funded by the Ministry of Social Development through the Mayor's Taskforce for Jobs (MTFJ). The MTFJ prides itself on being a network of New Zealand Mayors working to ensure all young people and communities have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
