Area Wide Pavement Treatment

Pavement has been assessed as an area of concern across the route, where due to loading and age the road surface can deteriorate and cause potholes, these projects will look to improve road condition at areas across the route.



Project signboards are being printed and will be onsite next week.

The scope of work includes:    

  • Earthworks including carriageway widening and shoulder improvements 
  • Reshaping of roadside drainage. 
  • Rehabilitating the existing pavement via cement stabilisation  
  • Overlaying with a new cement stabilised basecourse layer. 
  • Chip-seal surfacing and line marking. 

Porangahau Rd Site 1 is approximately 200m long between RP 7.99 – 8.19.   The treatment for this section involves the renewal of the existing pavement and road shoulder widening with new surfacing.

Porangahau Rd Site 2 is approximately 400m long between RP 8.56 – 8.97. The treatment for this section is the same as Site 1

Council has awarded a contract to Russell Roads to commence AWPT at two sites on Porangahau Road - works are expected to commence early October 2020.
