I provide support around the exciting projects happening within the waters sector in Central Hawke’s Bay. Among other things, I deal with some of the most contaminated water in the district and contribute to lessening the impact of this water on the environment.

What is your proudest moment in your role so far?

The engagement with Trade Waste industries that I have carried out is a point of pride for me.

What is the most exciting aspect of working on #TheBigWastewaterStory?

The ability to make a measurable difference to the ecological health of Central Hawke’s Bay waterways.

What is the most challenging aspect of working on #TheBigWastewater Story?

The sheer amount of scientific and technical research, knowledge and information around treatment systems/processes.

What is something people might not know about Wastewater?

That wastewater treatment often treats water to a standard that is cleaner than environmental water.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about Wastewater?

The impact that nuisance solids have on the reticulation system.

What is one element of the #TheBigWastewaterStory that you are most looking forward to completing?

The system that will be used for Trade Waste management going forward.

What’s your go-to productivity trick?

Have an interesting job! When I enjoy the work I do, I have greater drive to be productive, and am more inclined to produce high quality work. Finding enjoyment in the work that I do is essential for me.

If you could be automate one part of your job, what would it be?

Driving for 40 minutes to Porangahau and back! I am reducing the number of trips needed for myself and other council staff as much as possible. Internet connectivity plays a big role in this.

Variety.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside of work?

Skiing with friends and family at Ruapehu.
