Recruitment for the next Central Hawke’s Bay District Council CEO formally began this week after Mayor Walker and Councillors launched the search with a special video as part of the advertising campaign.

Councillors have engaged industry recruitment experts, EQUIP, through Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ), to lead this vitally important process.

Mayor Alex Walker says that ensuring the right fit of a new Chief Executive for the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council whānau and community is a huge responsibility and an exciting challenge for her and the district’s Councillors.

“We have an incredibly hard-working, innovative and service-oriented culture at Central Hawke’s Bay District Council which is delivering great outcomes for our community.”
“In the spirit of continuous improvement and in our strive for excellence, we see our recruitment process as the next stepping-stone in making Council and our community an even greater place for all to thrive in.

An outstanding transformational shift has occurred at Central Hawke’s Bay District Council, and on the back of this week’s incredible CouncilMARK AA rating, it only reaffirms the importance of keeping the team strong and well-equipped moving forward.

“We have a close-knit, special community here in Central Hawke’s Bay and still have mahi to be done – we want to find the right fit to lead through the years ahead.”

The role has the usual rigour of requirements for executive level experience and skills, but will also require a special mix of personality to develop and nurture people and relationships both inside and outside of the Council organisation.

“For several years now, Councillors have been leading a strategy for the Council that is based on putting our Central Hawke’s Bay people first and this has not changed. We are here to serve community and it takes a special person to bring that level of integrity.”

The 3-week campaign launched today with the position advertised on multiple platforms through LGNZ, Seek and Council’s website.
