C'mon Central Hawke's Bay - this week is our shot for summer!

CovidVaccineVan

With less than four weeks until Christmas and the spread of COVID-19 increasing throughout the country – a campaign to boost local vaccination rates in Central Hawke’s Bay is in full swing to see over 90% of the District fully vaccinated before Christmas.

In partnership with Te Taiwhenua o Tamatea, Hawke’s Bay District Health Board, local health providers, community organisations and the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council – the District is doubling down their efforts to see vaccinations numbers boosted this week to enable as many in the District to have had their two shots for summer.

“This is the last chance to fit in both vaccinations before Christmas so we are making sure that Central Hawke’s Bay will have access to vaccinations every single day this week.” says Central Hawke’s Bay Mayor Alex Walker.

“Whether you are working shifts, have no access to transport, or just need a bit of time to sit with a trusted professional to have a chat about what vaccination means, we have all the options covered.”

Receiving the COVID-19 vaccination is the best way to protect our community and with only 350 people in the District yet to receive their first vaccination, Central Hawke’s Bay is tantalisingly close to getting to the 90% target.

“Getting the vaccination is best way to get protected and if we can follow it up with the 1500 people who also need their second shot, Central Hawke’s Bay will be very well placed to enjoy their summer at the beach!”

“I’d really encourgage people that aren’t sure about the vaccination, to not rely on social media but to reach out to a trusted friend or medical professional.  Don’t be scared, being prepared. It’s the best way to protect each other”.

To support the push for vaccinations this week, pop up vaccination centres will be available every day this week throughout the District, as well as bookings being able to be made by visiting www.ourhealthhb.nz.

A local Tamatea - Central Hawke’s Bay COVID-19 response Team has also been reformed, further developing and supporting the strong local community response effort established during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown.
