A decision on notifying Central Hawke’s Bay’s Proposed District Plan for public submissions will be made by Council this week, on 27 May 2021.

Every Council must have a District Plan, which sets out how land can be used and developed, and how the land and environment will be sustainably protected from the effects of development for present and future generations. The plan must be reviewed every 10 years.

Council chief executive Monique Davidson says the meeting on May 27 is an important step in the process.

“Dependent on Council’s decision, public submissions on the plan will be open from May 28, marking the start of the formal public notification and remain open until 6 August”.

The decision to publicly notify the Proposed District Plan, comes after significant community consultation in 2019 and further engagement with key stakeholders.

“As we now enter the formal legal phase of the District Plan review, this further consultation provides an opportunity for residents, ratepayers and key stakeholder groups to formally consider the Proposed District Plan and let us know what they think about the provisions in it.”

The Proposed District Plan will be released publicly on Friday 28 May. The public can view the full plan and supporting information from Friday 28 May at: www.chbdc.govt.nz
