Waipawa Building Society Scholarship Recipients Awarded

Waipawa Building Society Scholarship Trust Award 2019 reduced

Recipients of the Waipawa Building Society Scholarship for Central Hawke’s Bay have been announced for 2019.

Established in 1990 by the Waipawa County Permanent Building and Investment Society, the Waipawa Building Society Scholarship Trust provides financial assistance to Central Hawke’s Bay residents who are or will be attending a course of tertiary education in New Zealand.

As custodian trustee, Central Hawke’s Bay District Council is responsible for allocation of funds from the Trust. It is represented by Central Hawke’s Bay Mayor Alex Walker, Councillor Tim Chote and Chief Executive Monique Davidson along with representatives from the Waipawa District Lions Club and the Waipukurau Rotary Club.

“Congratulations to this year’s successful applicants” said Mayor Walker. “Our young people are the future of Central Hawke’s Bay and I’m delighted to once again support a very worthy group of individuals in their educational prospects.”

Scholarship grants were awarded at 2019’s final meeting of full Council, before recipients joined Mayor Walker and Councillors for morning tea.

This year’s recipients were: Eva Karaitiana, Joe Tylee, Simon Pepper, Pippa McKenzie and Liam O’Brien.

Applications for funding will again open in late 2020.
