Takapau Christmas Lights Visit

Website Takapau Xmas Lights Visit 20181212

Wednesday 19 December 2018

Last Wednesday, a group of residents had a special visit to the Takapau Christmas Lights house.  Every year John and Brenda Blackett transform their Takapau home into a Christmas wonderland and members the CHB Positive Ageing group decided to organize a visit for senior members of our community.

Christine Renata, Community Development Lead for the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council explains.  “We know that it can be hard for some of our residents to get out to Takapau to see the lights at night.  By organizing transport and picking people up from their homes, we were able to make it easy for them to enjoy this amazing display.

“John and Brenda opened their home a day early especially for us,” says Christine, “giving the group a chance to have a good look around and enjoy the hospitality.”

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council were pleased to be able to support John and Brenda with a Community Voluntary Organisation Scheme (CVOS) grant earlier this year. This grant has assisted them to continue providing this amazing source of delight for the Central Hawke's Bay community.
