Residents are encouraged to have their say on Central Hawkes Bay District Council services by taking part in the 2020 Residents’ Opinion Survey.

The annual survey, which runs until 6 June helps the council find out how local services are landing with residents, understand aspects that people are happy with and identify areas for improvement.

“Customer Excellence is hugely important when it comes to supporting our community to Thrive, and we need to know we’re getting it right. The feedback we receive from people is a great temperature check for how well the council delivers its services, and how easy it is to do business with us. It ensures we are listening to customer expectations and responding to them,” says Chief Executive Monique Davidson.

Results from last year’s survey have helped us review the fundamentals of how we deliver our services and communicate to our communities. We heard that the top three priority areas for improvement were Roading/Traffic Control, Water Supply/Quality and Rubbish and Recycling.  From this feedback we have continued to increase communication on #thebigwaterstory project.  We have adopted a new Waste Management and Minimisation Plan that works towards a ‘Waste Free CHB’ and we have recently awarded a $35-million-dollar Land Transport Contract to ensure that our roading networks are in good hands over the next two to five years.

Results from the survey will also be used to ensure Council meet auditing requirements for the end of year annual report.

Central Hawke’s Bay communities will have another opportunity to have their say later this year, when Council commences a pre-engagement process to help inform the direction of the 2021 Long Term Plan. Requests for feedback will be made through Council’s website, social media and print media.

“The priorities of the people of Central Hawke’s Bay will always drive our decision making. We’re working to build a better, stronger future for everyone in our District and welcome feedback and suggestions at any time throughout the year,” says Ms Davidson.

The Resident’s Opinion Survey takes no more than 10 minutes to complete and people can take part by visiting https://survey.researchfirst.co.nz/SE/1/J2745/

A company called Research First will also conduct a phone survey of a sample of residents until 6 June and residents are encouraged to give their views freely if they are contacted.
