Working in / on / beside the Road

Before anyone can carry out any activities in/ on/ beside the road, they

  1. Must contact the Council Roading Department at least 5 working days prior to carrying out the activity
  2. Comply with the CHBDC District Plan
  3. Comply with all other Council requirements.

So if you want to graze your cows (graze the long acre) or any other stock, put in a new driveway (vehicle crossing, accessway, right of way) or any other activity to do with being on or beside the road then contact us and depending on the activity, Council may require you to submit a "Traffic Management Plan" (TMP) or a Road Use Consent form.

Traffic Management Plan

A Traffic Management Plan is required to cover any activity that may affect the normal operating conditions of the roads (including footpaths). Please refer to the Local Road Supplement for details.

Road Use Consent

A Road Use Consent is required to cover any activity in or on beside the road. Please complete the Road Use Consent Form and submit it to Council.

Road Closures

Any activity which may require the closure of a road needs approval from Council and a traffic management plan will also need to be submitted.
