Rubbish Collection

Only official yellow Council rubbish bags will be collected from the kerbside.  Old bags such as paper or green plastic will no longer be collected but are still able to be disposed of for FREE at any of the district's transfer stations.

Bags can be purchased through the following outlets:

  • Waipawa Library
  • Waipukurau Library
  • Waipukurau New World
  • Waipukurau Woolworths
  • Waipawa New World
  • Takapau Community Foodmarket
  • Otane General Store
  • Onga Onga General Store
  • Beach Marine Te Paerahi
  • Beach rubbish contractors - Tony Hawthorne or Graham Riach
  • Pourerere Beach freedom camping committee

This also includes the cost of collection on rubbish days, or FREE disposal at any of the district's transfer stations.

Please place your official bags out on the kerbside for collection:

Sunday (bags out before 4.00)

Extra collections on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Summer holiday period. You will be notified before these extra collections start.

Commercial Properties

Commercial properties will receive a service similar to residential properties. If commercial properties produce more waste, then they will have to make private collection or disposal arrangements. Collection days are the same as for residential collections.

Left Over Rubbish

If you cannot reduce, re-use or recycle your rubbish, then what is left over must be taken to a Transfer Station.
