In all cases that a fire is located by any person, they must ring 111 and ask for ‘fire’. They must be ready to supply the exact location, with rapid number if available, and the nature of the fire.
Fire communications will notify the Council’s Rural Fire Officer of the fire details by pager.
For any general rural fire enquires either e-mail Bruce Kitto or Allen Vickress, or phone Council on 857-8060.
Bruce or Allen can supply you with the following details:
- Any fire restrictions that may be in place in the CHB District
- If a fire permit is required before you light a fire
- Advice on any safety issues to do with any fire you may want to light in the open air, eg land management, burn offs etc.
- Details of Council’s Rural Fire Forces and who to contact if you wish to join the Rural Fire Force
Fire Permit
How do I apply?
If you do require a Fire Permit you can either e-mail Bruce Kitto or Allen Vickress, or phone Council on 857-8060 during office hours.
What we require from you
When applying for a Fire Permit we may need to carry out a site inspection prior to issuing the permit. We therefore need to know your name, address (including rapid number), contact phone number and what type of fire, including the main fuel type, that you wish to light.
How long will the process take?
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for the issuing of a fire permit.
The cost?
At the time of preparing these details, Council do not charge a fee for issuing a fire permit.
Further information is available from the National Rural Fire Authority.
