Introduction
The main objective of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 is to establish control over the sale and supply of liquor with the aim of contributing to the reduction of liquor abuse. One of the tools that the Central Hawke’s Bay District Council has available for managing liquor abuse and the adverse effects of anti-social behaviour is to manage the hours of operation of licensed premises.
Purpose of Policy
The objective of this policy is to establish a uniform closing time for licensed premises across the District in order to avoid migratory drinking patterns and reduce associated anti-social behaviour such as vandalism and street violence.
