Why is Council not continuing to collect green plastic and brown paper bags?

Green plastic rubbish bags were last delivered to households in 2007 and brown paper bags were last delivered over 5 years ago. As kerbside rubbish collection is a user pays service, Council has decided that it is time to start collecting only official Yellow Council rubbish bags.

I paid for the green plastic and brown paper bags in my rates.

The kerbside rubbish collection component of your rates was for 52 kerbside rubbish collections for that rating year. We have continued to collect green plastic bags for 2 years past the finish of the rating year. Old bags such as paper or green plastic will no longer be collected, but are still able to be disposed of for FREE at any of the district's transfer stations
