All dogs 3 months and older are required to be registered.

Who do I contact?

CHB District Council Dog Registration Application Forms are available for download here  or may be obtained from the Waipukurau Library and Service Centre in Kitchener Street, Waipukurau or Ruataniwha Street, Waipawa. You may also e-mail Margaret Munro or phone Council on +64 6 857 8060 and request that a form be posted to you.

What we need from you

Once you have completed the application form you need to forward it to Council either by dropping it into our Waipukurau or Waipawa office or by posting it to:

The application should contain the following:

• Full name and address of dog owner
• Date of birth of dog owner
• His/her contact phone number
• Address where dogs are kept
• Full description of dog: name, colour, age, sex etc

Fees

Dog registration licences cover the period from 1st July to 30th June each year.

• Rural Dogs: $47.00. Discount of $10 per dog is taken off if paid by 1st August (so would be $37.00). Penalty of $20 added if payment not received before 1st August (so would be $67.00).

• Urban Dogs: $95.00. Discount of $10 per dog is taken off if paid by 1st August (so would be $85.00). Penalty of $20 added if payment not received before 1st August (so would be $115.00).

• Responsible Dog Owner (RDO): $55.00. Discount of $10 per dog is taken off if paid by 1st August (so would be $45.00). Penalty of $20 added if payment not received before 1st August (so would be $115.00). Payments after 1 August will mean RDO status will be revoked for the current year if not paid by 1st August.

Please note that no discount applies for any payments received after 1 August

RDO = this is a special licence price given to those owners who have demonstrated to Council they are good owners by paying fees on time, having dogs that are under control at all times and do not wander off the property, and that their property is fully fenced. An inspection of your property must be carried out before the end of April each year. The application fee is $50.00 which is a one off charge separate from the Responsible Dog Owner registration.

Microchipping Fee::
A charge of $30 will apply for microchipping of dogs by Council's Animal Control Officer.

Replacement Tags:

A charge of $3.00 will apply for replacement tags.

Collars:

Large Collars: $10 Small Collars: $8

How long will the process take?

If you call in at the office you will be given your dog registration tag straight away. If application is done by mail, we will reply as soon as possible.
