The Citizens Civic Award recognises people who have given outstanding voluntary service to the community of Central Hawke’s Bay.
The Civic Award was established in October 1990 at the initiative of the Central Hawke’s Bay Country Women’s Institute and the 1990 Commission of New Zealand to mark the New Zealand 1990 year.
Each year public advertisements call for nominations for the Award in May. The nominations are considered by the Civic Awards Assessment panel who decide who should receive the awards.
A presentation ceremony is held usually at the beginning of August, where the Award recipients are presented with a citation and a badge in recognition of their services to the community.
