Camping Ground

You require a camping ground licence when:

Two or more parties are living independently of each other on any area of land for hire, donation or any other such reward.  Before applying please check the 1985 Camping Grounds Regulations.

How do I apply?

You will need to complete an application form. This is also available from the Waipukurau Library and Service Centre in Kitchener Street, Waipukurau or the main Council Office at 32 Ruataniwha Street, Waipawa. You may also phone Council on 06-857-8060 and request that a form be posted to you.

Please forward the application form along with the $185 fee to Council either by dropping it into our Waipukurau or Waipawa office or posting it to:

The process

An application form needs to be completed. An inspection of the camping ground will be undertaken after which you will be notified of work required to be done. Following that an annual inspection is carried out under statute. You may need to consult with the Hawke's Bay Regional Council and the Resource Management Act, depending on the site.
